How to Set a Windows XP as Defualt OS After Installing Ubuntu 13.10

First I have installed windows xp successfully and thereafter installed ubuntu 13.10. Now both are working fine…

My Question is that, How to set Windows XP as Default OS and How to reduce Switching Time Between Windows XP and Ubuntu 13.10. It Shows some amount of Seconds While booting…

Hi Basavaraj,

First determine how many entries you have on you boot screen. To change default boot entry and boot timeout login to you ubuntu system and edit:

/boot/grub/grub.cfg

file.

Change time out by altering line:

set timeout=5

the above will set timeout to 5 seconds.
Change default boot option by altering line:

set default="1"

the above will default to boot second entry on your boot list.

Once you have made changes you need apply them by:

$ sudo update-grub

command.
