How To Upgrade Ubuntu To 19.04 Disco Dingo - LinuxConfig.org

The work towards a new Ubuntu release has started. The new Ubuntu 19.04 is expected to be released in April 2019. However, there is no need to wait until then.

How can I use amdgpu-pro driver for Radeon RX 580 video card with 19.04 Disco Dingo?

I have tried Ubuntu 19.04 thoroughly, and it works for me, so I have upgraded already. However, amdgpu-pro driver does not work. I’d like to do computations with BOINC, which needs the driver for GPU support.

Now I am using 18.04 bionic beaver.

This upgrade can delete my file.

why are you guys using the pro drivers? just asking if there is a specific reason?

Yes, there is a specific reason: The SETI@home application for boinc fully works only with amdgpu-pro driver for decent computations. Unfortunately there’s no means to get it working with any version above 18.04. I’ve also tried ROCm as OpenCL layer, but no luck yet.
