OBS setup - Debian, AMD, Intel Integrated Graphics

I’m trying to setup a stream using OBS on Debian 10. I’ve got an Intel Integrated graphics card, and also a rx580 (AMD). I have the Mesa and Vulkan libraries installed (but not AMD’s proprietary drivers). When I look at OBS’s settings, the only encoder option I have is x264, though. Shouldn’t I be able to leverage the Intel or AMD cards for encoding?

I have the latest version of ffmpeg installed, if that’s helpful.

Okay. It took a few ages, but I think we got to the bottom of this. Oddly enough, the problem seems to be the official Debian package for OBS. It has some very weird choices, for instance that it defaults to compiling without vaapi support. I see from dpkgs website (dpkgs.org) that deb-multimedia ( see linuxconfig.org/amp-up-your-multimedia-experience-on-debian-9-stretch-linux has a more up-to-date version, it could be they also have a more normal base package.

Personally, someone gave me a tip that flatpak (flatpak.org) has a great OBS package, so I ended up going that route, and while I haven’t poked at it too much, it does have vaapi support out of the box, and recognizes my GPU. It’s also a more current version than even the deb-multimedia package.
