Sorry! But I could not found “Allow Launching” in the menu. I am using Gnome 3.36.2.
Hi Khoand7,
Welcome to our forums.
What is the filename and extension of the shortcut file you try to set up?
I created an extension to do this far quicker, you can do it with one click form app launcher.
It’s free and open source, please consider adding this to the guide.
You can find it on GitHub searching for:
Tommimon/add-to-desktop
Give it a try.
Thank you very much for the easy to follow and useful article. Following this article, for Ubuntu 20.10, I was able to create a desktop shortcut to the Spring Tool Suite application which was placed in its own folder in the Home folder.
So… how do I get it into the launcher? This seems way more complicated than it ought to be.
Hi Han_Thomas,
Welcome to our forums.
By launcher you mean the sidebar, the “applications” container, or the searchbar?
I think he means the menus, alacarte say.
