Static IP Address in Ubuntu 16.04

Hi Guys,

I am trying to assign a static IP Address to Ubuntu using the following commands:
sudo nano /etc/network/interfaces

I get the following output from below:

auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

Can someone please help me with this?

Welcome to our forums.

Please run the following command, so we can see your current setup:

# ip link show

And provide us the output (obscure your address if it is facing the open Internet).
